Dum Aloo recipe

Dum Aloo is a recipe which can be used with almost every item like you can have this with rice, roti, paratha, dahi bhalla and you can use this with chat also. There is a lot of process of dum aloo recipe. Cooking any type of recipe with potato as the main ingredient is always interesting for me because I love potato. And I always love to cook different type of potato recipes. So let’s start the delicious recipe.

Dum Aloo

Ingredients

  • Potato – 4 medium sized
  • Tomato – 1 big
  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Ginger & garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Chicken masala – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Kashmiri Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Chopped Coriander leaf – 1 tbsp

Method

For making this Dum Aloo recipe first we have to boil the potato. After boiling the potato, let it cool, then peel it and then cut into smaller pieces. Now make a paste of the tomato without water and keep aside. After that finely chop the onion and keep aside.

Now heat a pan, add oil and let the oil becomes heat. After that add finely chopped onion and fry on medium flame for 3-4 minutes or till the onion becomes light golden brown in colour. After onion changes its colour put the gas on low flame. Let the oil cool a little and then add kashmiri red chilli powder and immediately add ginger garlic paste and fry the masala for 2 minutes on low to medium flame. After that add tomato paste, turmeric powder and mix well.

So here we fry the tomato on medium flame for 2-3 minutes or till oil leaves the sides of the pan. After masala frying is completely done add dry spices like chicken masala, cumin powder and coriander powder and mix very well for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.

After that add boiled and chopped potato and mix them very well with masala for 1-2 minutes. Now add 1 cup of water and mix well. If you like more gravy, add more water according to your choice. Here add 2 tbsp of mashed potato. Gravy becomes thicker when we add mashed potato. After that, boil it for 4-5 minnutes. Now we are going to add garam masala and coriander leaf and now turn off the gas. Finally our dum aloo is ready to serve.
